WE LOVE ELMWOOD
We're here to make a difference and we're dedicated to enhancing the lives of our friends and neighbours in Elmwood. We have a collection of compassion ministries designed to reach out and befriend, assist and encourage disadvantaged people who live in our neighbourhood.
Riverwood Food Bank partners with Winnipeg Harvest to provide groceries to Elmwood families in need. We are currently serving more than 150 neighbourhood families every two weeks. Every Wednesday morning we unload a delivery truck and work to sort the food into personalized orders. The food is then distributed on Wednesday evenings and Thursday afternoons. We strive to offer help to those in need while keeping the process full of dignity, free of discrimination, and full of grace.

If you are in need of food, please contact Winnipeg Harvest at 204-982-3660 to register for a hamper. If you’re interested in serving Wednesday mornings, Wednesday nights or Thursday afternoons, please email LeeAnn.
There’s something special about a community formed around a meal. The Riverwood Drop-In is open during food bank times for people in our neighbourhood to meet up with friends and neighbours and enjoy a meal together, make a craft or play board games. Wednesday nights we enjoy a chilli dinner and Thursdays we share a soup lunch.

An energized and lively community night, Kidz Club offers a place for elementary-aged kids from Elmwood to connect, feel accepted, and be cheered on by mentors and leaders. It truly is a privilege to experience kids from all over the Elmwood community coming together to share games, crafts, snacks, and friendship.

The Refuge is a collection of programs that respond to the needs of women in the Elmwood Community. It is a mentor-based program that provides support groups based on different circumstances and needs. We offer general support to young moms, and specific group supports to women dealing with domestic violence and addiction issues.
